~ think outside the box

I love boxes and containers and have collected quite a few...

This is a Maya box... my mom was obsessed with these and has a collection of them in all shapes and sizes.

Recently picked this one up from Pottery Barn.

I've had this one forever... the brass box given to WWI Servicemen by Princess Mary in December of 1914.  The box contained cigarettes and a Christmas card.  These boxes are seen frequently in antique shops...

Found this tea caddy at an antique shop for cheap..  The one on top is MacKenzie-Childs.

I love the browns of the next 3 large boxes...

I bought this beautiful box at the Lauritzen Gardens Antique Show in Omaha...  It's from a wonderful store in New York, Zane Moss
Just as pretty closed...

 as it is open.

One of my favorites... I love Chinoiserie!  From The Gables Antiques in Atlanta.

The following 4 boxes are all new and cheap.. Pier One, World Market and the like.... perfect for kids rooms to hold junk...

Love this box - it opens into 3 pieces... of course, the color attracted me.  It was an accessory at Michael Taylor in Chicago not for sale.  I begged.

These tole boxes are wonderful... the blue is from a store in Winter Park, Florida - a real find.  The orange is my favorite.  It's in the center of my living room in the center of my house and inspired the design direction this house would follow from the beginning.

Another favorite of mine... the color is rich and wonderful.  It's a Map puzzle box.  The top slides open to reveal puzzle pieces inside!

A collection of boxes from family, high end and low end antique shops... I copied my mother-in-law who owned this table and had a beautiful collection of boxes on top.  I love the tartan!

Small horn boxes...

A Mackensie Childs recipe box next to my cookbooks!

Decided to take a break from the chandelier drama.. I should hear back about the Dallas chandelier soon.  Of course the most likely choice is the one I'm waiting on...
