~ decorating with collections

The inspired home idea was a good one and seems to be providing inspiration for thousands of viewers. I've noticed during my photo shoots that I am drawn to collections. I think they are charming and warm and make a home feel homey. They are often my favorite part of the house.
Shopping tonight at the Lauritzen Gardens Antique Show was fabulous as expected. Each year is somehow better than the last. And guess what? I was drawn to the collections like a magnet! The boxes... wait until you see the boxes! Blue and white plates mixed with boxes, mercury glass, prints, majolica, oh so many collections to photograph! I will look forward to sharing them all with you next week... But for now, here are several collections from inspired homes I've done...

This collecting concept has given me a whole new perspective on shopping for my home...
Old philosophy: I don't need one more thing in my house.
New philosophy: I can turn one charming thing into a collection!
I've got some shopping to do!

Go for it Jan, shop! I love this post because who doesn't collect something and grouping pieces together makes the biggest impact.

I love all the blue and white and the globes. I am not in the "less is more" school. No, not I. Time to go shopping.
Best...Victoria

I really liked this post because I love to decorate with collections - picture frames and treasures that the girls bring me back from their travels. Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos. The collection of Jesus and Mary is my favorite. A lovely weekend to you,

So glad to hear your rave reviews. The shop I work in is exhibiting at the show - and our specialty is BOXES and porcelains! I have been hearing very positive and flattering reviews of Omaha as well!!!!

That's so true....there's always room for a new collection. I love the blue and white...but I also saw a number of tartan objects that got my heart pounding faster!!!

What collection are you working on now?

I agree. Collections make a home more interesting. Especially when they are grouped together. I do have a collection of antique globes, toy cars and trucks. I also have been collecting vintage lamps. I have been wanting to do a post on them. Thanks, great post.

Love the collection of black frames in the first photo. Our friends did something similar in their apartment in the city, and it is just such a great look.
