Pleaching is the ancient art of weaving the branches of multiple trees or plants together so they become one living unit. You can read more about pleaching in the post from Ivy Clad here.
The images above (and below) represent the work of Jinny Blom, an amazing landscape and garden designer.
I clicked over to Jinny Blom's website after reading about pleaching, and was rewarded beyond measure.
Just one gorgeous image after another!
Jinny's work has been well received and has attracted an extraordinary level of interest from the press. Awards are aplenty which is no surprise...
Ahhh, the joys of blogging. I learned about pleaching and was entranced with the discovery of Jinny Blom's website, and entertained for hours... So excited about the garden posts I'll be working on this season!

Beautiful post, Jan. Great discovery.
I discovered Jinny Blom on Pinterest. I think British styled gardens are the most beautiful in the world!
I love how the UK is obsessed with flowers, most every home, regardless of size, has a garden, window boxes and planters.
I have inherited both my British grandmothers love of gardening. A love of plants makes life so much more interesting and beautiful!
I didn't know there was a name for this either. But now I'm going to use it with abandon !!!!!

I've learned something new today thanks to you. Very interesting technique. Those gardens by Jinny Blom are incredible. What a gift she has and how lucky those people are to live in the spaces she creates. Great post! I enjoy reading your blog.
Oh my...what gorgeous pictures....a dream garden for sure!
Blessings, Lorraine
Hi Jan! What a beautiful blog you have! I have seen pleacing to but never knew that is what it was.
Gorgeous images!
I am a new follower.

I saw Keri's post and thought it was wonderful as I didn't know what it was called either. I have a neighboor who's an avid gardener doing the pleaching with trees and it looks wonderful. I need ideas for my secret garden so I'm off to see Jinny's website. Thanks for the heads up!

I recently visited The J. Irwin Miller home on Columbus Indiana, Daniel Kiley was the landscape architect for this extraordinary project...fabulous examples of pleaching! You would love this wonderful city & home.

Hey there! Beautiful post & thanks for the links! Jinny Blom is one of my all-time favorite garden designers. Her story is pretty fanstastic. Gardening was her hobby, and later it became her profession. She's amazingly talented. I have my fingers crossed for starting a pleached hornbeam hedge at my house this fall.
Happy Gardening!
Keri
This gardening/landscape technique is a new one to me! But, now that I understand what it is, i know I've seen it before....and it's beautiful!
I look forward to your future garden posts! :)
