~ macaron madness

I've never had one.

Seems these little sweets are a hot item... I've come across these charming images on Pinterest... but they seem to be everywhere! Hard to believe I've managed to miss out on tasting one... I tend to find sweets and eat them on a fairly regular basis...

Macarons are yummy! Pricey in bakeries, however we found trader joe's has frozen chocolate and vanilla! Priced very well and a great intro to macarons!

They are great! I've tried making them at home with limited success so maybe someone reading has a trick to their success?

You must find and eat some of the little beauties!

They are usually packaged so beautifully, whether purchased In Paris or locally here in the States, that my daughter and I try to eat them VERY slowly with tiny bites so the experience is not over too quickly!

You must try them immediately. Beware. They are like nothing else. So delicious! You can order good ones from Mad Mac or Bissingers. Both are wonderful. Or better yet, go to San Francisco and go to the Ferry Building. Have lunch at The Slanted Door and then go to the little bakery that makes them. Have a Pistachio one, they are unbelievable. Worth the plane trip!

Just this morning, I found an offer of macaron making classes at Sur la Table. I'm definitely looking into this. I love the idea of color co-ordinating these little beauties to the decor, the rest of the meal, or a guest's favorite color. I also envision giving them as "take home gifts" to guests at dinner parties. Something tells me that they are not as easy as they might look. I'll let you know.

What? Never? Ever? Not even a single bite? Some I find too sweet but give me a pistachio or vanilla, and I am a happy girl. Of course Laduree being the queen is where I want mine to come from, and only those bought in Paris, of course:)
