~ mackenzie-childs ny

Apparently, my readers as a whole, don't give a hoot about dining in NYC. Yesterday's post took me FOREVER to put together, and produced a disheartening two comments. Although I did receive a couple of enthusiastic and appreciative emails about the restaurants, overall, I'm calling the post a disappointment.

Moving on!
I have a feeling my readers will better appreciate this post.

A definite highlight of our NY trip was strolling through the Mackenzie Childs store. Wow.
Did I make any purchases? Why, yes I did.
I will share what can only be described as crazy in my next post.

I love these timers! I've given several as gifts with the message, "Time flies when you're having fun..."

 On to the second floor...
Can I please tell you something? This is the elevator.

I know, right?

AMAZING.
Crazy coming up next...

What a lovely ans enchanting shoppe.
I tried several times to click on your blog entry from my usual place where I have my favorite blogs stored and it would not click open, as it usually does. I had to copy and paste your blog title and then enter it into my Internet search, to arrive here. I hope it is just a momentary fluke, especially for you and how hard you work at your beautiful blog.
Come visit me as well~

I think you know your readers! Thank you for sharing M-child's. I just love their whimsy. Just the other day watched a tv show four houses. It featured Victoria and showed their new "home" a historic boat! Didn't know they sold their business;( but still going strong. Can't wait to see your next post!

One thought comes to mind, "Fairyland" full of vignettes and inspiration. What pure enchanted fun this must have been to explore. I can't wait to see what came home with you!

hi jan,
love your blog! i always peek in, but this is my first time posting because i feel bad that u feel bad about ur post today. i love ur nyc restaurants info. bookmarked the entire post. i'm a long island girl and go into manhattan quite often. i always enjoy hearing about someone elses viewpoints on the city and personal favs. regarding mackenzie-childs...omg! i love it. did you know they use to have a restaurant upstairs that served high tea? soooo amazingly eccentric...over the top!!! i had the pleasure of eating there on three separate occasions. i wish they would bring it back.
keep on doing what ur doing.

I've experienced the same thing - posts I've labored over with few comments and ones I threw up in 4 minutes getting the most comments. I grew up near Aurora NY and have some lovely pics of my kids when they were little in the MacKensie gardens there. I also spy a bowl I rec'd as a wedding present back in '88.

Wow! It's almost more than you can take in. My favorite...the black and white stripped rug with floral border. It's beauitful.

Jan - I know what you mean about spending hours on a post and then no one reads it. Oh well, I guess that's the life of a blogger (or any writer, for that matter).

The M-C store is unbelievable! The Courtly Check deer head over the mantel, the elevator...I was in M-C overload and I wasn't even there. Looking forward to seeing what goodies you bought. Great post!

Happy to find your blog today, recommended by a friend here in Portland. Your color palette, by the way, is FABULOUS. This store will be a must-see when I visit NYC. And I just may be ordering some of those kitchen timers.

Ok . . never read your NYC post on restaurants, but there is no place like NYC for food!!! I have made note your your favorites. When I shopped the gift show for my store, I could hardly wait to go to dinner which was always a celebration and a relaxing part of a busy buying day. Have you ever tried RED CAT? Great little restaurant not to be missed. As for Mackenzie, I have been in that store too and it is amazing. Talk about EYE CANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love your posts. Haven't been around for awhile since major surgery at the beginning of summer. So happy to be reconnecting!!

I just found your sight and love it! I am a huge Mackenzie Childs fan and own a lot of it - I purchased most of it at Bergdorf Goodman in NY when they had the line and a lot at their NY store which I LOVE! One time they had fish chairs in the window with water beneath - TRUE STOREY! Thanks for your post on their art! I enjoyed your blog!

Thank you!!! Loved seeing all the MC pictures. Drooling over each room. I've wanted to go there, but California is a wee piece from NYC. Again, thanks for posting bunches of MC pictures.
