Our Story

What began as a creative outlet for sharing inspiration has continued to attract curious readers in search of beautiful images and perspectives on design, entertaining, art and travel. The French Tangerine blog was created in 2011 and has accrued a generous collection of informative posts. The blog remains available for exploration, an ongoing resource for fresh inspiration.

After doing a blogpost in 2013 on aptware, a marbleized faience pottery from a small town in France, Jan was lucky enough to meet a highly regarded artisan residing in that region. Finding this elusive vendor and providing access to this highly sought-after product was the impetus to expand from blog to shop in 2015, a natural progression. French pottery continues to make up a significant part of shop sales.

Although the blog is updated periodically, Jan spends most of her time sourcing fresh selections for the shop and continues to streamline shop inventory. The results speak for themselves: personally curated collections and one-of-a-kind treasures just a click away! The French Tangerine has become an international gallery featuring pottery, ceramics and home accessories from several regions in France, plus the UK, Italy, Germany, South Africa and the Czech Republic.

We invite you to explore the blog and the shop and share in our enthusiasm and passion!

"I am not a design professional but love inspiring interiors. I don’t entertain as frequently as I would like but celebrate the art of entertaining beautifully. I am passionate about color, have an enthusiastic appreciation for charm and character, and treasure the opportunity to share inspiration... I hope you find something beautiful!"
