inspired home: blake and monica

Our friends, Blake and Monica, have the most charming home on a petite port on the coast of Brittany. Their view is spectacular!

Let's take a tour... Keep in mind, I was especially intrigued with their paintings and artwork, so this inspired home might seem more like a visit to the museum :)

This painting by Bernard Buffet is really amazing.

Look at the basil and other herbs just outside on the terrace :)

You can see they have an extensive and diverse collection of interesting and beautiful objects from their travels and day trips...

So many of the paintings were painted by local artists, and depict scenes they see driving through their neighborhood...

Sardines are a popular theme...

LOVE.

The view from the terrace looks just like a painting!

On a sunnier day... I prefer blue skies!

Their backyard...

Another favorite :)

Their collection of ceramics, also found locally, is outstanding.

This was painted by an artist who has two large paintings in a local restaurant.. Keep your eyes open for them in an upcoming post...

I think this is my favorite...

Loved this tiny Quimper snuff box!

Fresh herbs are ready for the chef!

Fresh flowers from the garden on the table...

This painting is such a major part of the room. A strong statement piece that sets the stage for the rest of the room, but doesn't overpower. I love the color, I love the fish, and I love how the artist signs his name top and center.

One minute is was cloudy...

And the next, it was sunny...

More paintings upstairs :)

Wow.

My favorite!

View from upstairs...

Geraniums on steroids...

Just outside their backyard...

To spend time in this beautiful setting, with these spectacular views was extraordinary. Blake and Monica were such gracious hosts, and took us on adventures everyday ~ each one better than the last! They truly made our trip to France an unforgettable one.
