avignon and paris

This is the last post from our trip to France...

Shortly after our arrival in Paris, we took a train to Avignon. Although our ultimate goal was to get to Apt, to visit my beloved aptware artisan, we enjoyed the day in Avignon before venturing out in our rental car.

Hotel d'Europe was fabulous and charming...

Loved the courtyard!!

We walked and explored the area surrounding the hotel...

Avignon was charming. Apt was also wonderful, but no pics to share...

Back to Paris!

We didn't have reservations for dinner when we arrived back in Paris, so we asked the concierge to help us. We requested something close by, within walking distance, casual but delicious food.

We walked right down the street, as instructed, and searched and searched for the restaurant, Cafe de L'Homme. We were standing in front of a museum confused and looking around. Finally we realized the restaurant was IN Musee de L'Homme. The view of the Eiffel Tower has to be one of the best in the city.

Here are a few shots from their instagram:

I mean we were so close, it was hard to get the whole thing in the picture!

The lights flash like a disco ball on the hour generating lots of excitement from the crowd...

I did get some beautiful photos of aptware in Paris. Most of what you see here is for sale in my shop!

Walking the streets of Paris...

Look closely at the front of this building. So cool!

Um.. Look at the bottom of the rotisserie chickens! POTATOES! OMG! With the juice dripping on them?

On the rooftop of the Peninsula, there is a very special restaurant, L'Oiseau Blanc, with breathtaking views!

Chef Sidney Redel reinterprets traditional French dishes in an aviation-themed interior.

We sat in this corner... Another great view of the Eiffel Tower!

This was a very fancy shrimp appetizer...

Chicken Ravioli with Sautรฉed Chanterelle Mushrooms... TO DIE FOR.

This was a fish special.. I can't remember the details, but how about those little pearl onions with the flowers?

 Amazing...

Lamb from the Pays d'Oc region...

The outside terrace of the restaurant...

Here's a better, professional photo from their website.

The aviation-theme celebrates Charles Nungesser and Francois Coli, who attempted to cross the Atlantic in 1927 from Le Bourget. L'Oiseau Blanc translates, The White Bird.

The perfect location for a special occasion or celebration! L'Oiseau Blanc
