Courtauld Gallery (& Hermes)
One of my best memories from an Art History Abroad trip I took in college was visiting the Courtauld Gallery in London. I couldn’t remember many of the specifics — only that it was a favorite. I was especially excited to return on this trip. It was every bit as wonderful as I remembered: intimate and charming, and filled with extraordinary art.

This was sort of the pièce de résistance for me… So gorgeous.
The gallery is most famous for its exceptional collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings.

I bought a book with this painting on it over 40 years ago. Didn’t notice the tangerines back then…
The gift shop was so darling. Loved the tangerine candles and the hand-painted lampshades!

The new Hermes store on New Bond Street was on our list and we had fun checking that out. It’s deserves hours to be explored. The original brick walls hold a labyrinth of floors and staircases. The floor is made of the same wood as the Mayfair Stables. The ever-present equestrian theme is seen throughout.
The address of the new store is included on this shawl and only sold in this store. Of course, they were sold out and can’t keep them in stock.
This one also has the storefront on the side of the ship! SO cool!
I could not decide on which color but ultimately went with the brighter colors - that blue ocean color got me.
This is inside the store. There are tons of cool old signs and interesting objects.
We walked some more… Love the colors everywhere…
We explored Covent Gardens and the arcade there…
A surprise treat when we returned to the hotel!
