table art

I stressed about setting this table. Lost sleep, perspired, worried. My friend Kyle Robino asked me to do a table for Table Art, a fundraiser presented by the Omaha Symphony Guild. For some reason, I stress when I can't picture exactly how the table is going to look. I can make a list of beautiful things to put on the table, but I stress about what it will look like, and if it will be pretty.

Kyle must think I am helpless. (She doesn't, but she should!) I carried in my boxes this morning, and Kyle set this table in about 30 minutes. She does not stress. All that sweating and worrying for nothing!

I found that hydrangea at Whole Foods a couple days ago and brought that along...

There are a few layers here. The blue placemats are in my shop. They ship straight from Italy. The rattan placemats are Juliska. The scalloped plates are from Material Possessions in Chicago. The aptware plates are from France, and in my shop. The blue salad plates are Bunny Williams from Ballard Designs. The aptware bowls are from France, along with the platter and tureen in the center.

The top tablecloth is coming soon to my shop, along with the matching napkins, all from Pomegranate. Email me if you are interested in ordering. The monogrammed napkins are a custom monogram from Number Four Eleven in Savannah. The perle blue bowl filled with Malt eggs is in my shop... a favorite!

I also layered the tablecloths... I rented a burlap cloth for the base layer, found the check fabric on eBay and made a square tablecloth, and then bought the top white tablecloth from a vendor I work with in Italy. The white tablecloth was treated with wax or something similar, and ironing was not an option. I brought my iron this morning, and it wouldn't slide!! At least it was crisp and new :)

I love the green ivy!

St. Louis crystal goblets, tortoise glasses are from France.

I brought some banister balls for some added glam. The mustard pottery plates are MacKenzie-Childs from years ago. I collected them for years and I still love them.

I've had the stone pot with the heads for probably 25 years. It's kind of creepy with the heads, but for some reason I love it. The blue confit jars are from a shop in New Orleans. I found them online, and I bought all three. I've never seen blue since. I'm glad I bought them all!

The aptware bowl with the tangerines is for sale in my shop...

You can order these goblets and tray from my shop! In France, the vendor was drinking coffee out of one of these goblets, and I was completely fascinated. Everything is charming in France. These goblets also come in a smaller size, called sake cups. They are adorable. (Email me if you want to order sake cups or goblets..) The chicken egg cup is from La Tuile a Loup in France.

Kyle Robino did the flowers. She is so clever. Those purple parrot tulips? I mean...

I just love all the colors!

This event showcases tables of local designers and shops. I will be featuring the other tables next... Lots of fun inspiration!
