Home for the Holidays

We will be home for the holidays! Although we won’t have all the kids home with us this year, we still enjoy the festive vibe of the season. In fact, I have had such fun this year decorating with this velvet blue ribbon and tangerines.

I follow @murpheybeckerart on instagram and she is a great source of inspiration. She posted this beautiful dining room a couple years ago and it took my breath away!

So many details to love, but I was so attracted to the the soft colors, and of course I always love tangerines! I loved how festive the space was without a hint of Christmas red or green! Who would have thought baby blue satin ribbon could be perfect for the holidays?

Below are a few photos of her gorgeous house from her instagram account. Here, you will see the blue velvet ribbon on her topiaries. This was my inspiration to do bows on the banister balls on my mantel. And again, the tangerines are adorable.

I love the pears on her mantel! I actually ordered them from Hobby Lobby, (she always posts links on her instagram to help!) and when they arrive, I might add them into my set up. Will it be too much with my tangerines? Maybe next year…

This mantel decor must be from the same year as her gorgeous dining room with the blue satin ribbon.. Here, she has more fruit.. The little green apples are darling. The boxwood greens here are different from the last photo. I don’t know which one I like better!

The light pink roses here are delightful! And there’s the blue velvet ribbon again! She has actually decorated with light pink velvet ribbon before, if I remember correctly. Check her out on instagram to see more!

I have never done garland on my stair railing before, but with this new velvet blue ribbon inspiration, I called Kyle Robino over to help. She picked up a few different varieties of garland and did her bow magic, and voila!

As I’m doing this post, it is becoming even more apparent that the quality of my photos is terrible. When I see my house photos next to Mary Ellen’s (murpheybeckerart), mine are dark and weirdly colored, and hers are light and more professional. I’m not sure what is going on with my iPhone, but bear with me. I need to learn how to edit. I mean, I know how to edit, but I’m not doing a good job. Anyway, the show must go on.

We added a couple more stockings this year for significant others!

Lots of blue velvet ribbon, folks!

I really look forward to unpacking and setting up my Czech tree collections around the house, here and there.

I only have about 50 left in the shop! They fly out of here so fast.

Shop Czech Christmas trees HERE.

Have been experimenting with some fun table ideas….

The Lucy Cope matchstrikers are the ultimate, extra-special holiday gift! Shop HERE.

I am a broken record each year when I explain that I don’t pull out that many decorations. But it feels like I’ve spent days pulling everything together, and I still have to finish outside!

I insisted that we get a very skinny tree this year. My husband loves a ginormous tree. I’m ok with the height, but I don’t like it to come out into the living room and feel like we are crowded.

We were successful in finding a very skinny tree. It’s a Noble Fir instead of a Frasier Fir, which is what we have always gotten. I like it!! I couldn’t use about 4 boxes of ornaments with the size difference, but it’s ok with me.

The outside photos will have to be another post. I am still finishing up the bows on a couple of pots, but it is looking so pretty. Thank goodness for some of the artificial pots. I literally couldn’t do it if I had to redecorate all the wreaths and pots every single year. It is a dream to just pull them out of storage and they are ready to go! But I also have a couple real ensembles for good measure.

Hope you have a wonderul December! I am off to Whitefish for a wedding meeting this month, and then back home for the holidays. Follow along on instagram if it’s your thing!
