London Restaurants

I gained 5 pounds in 7 days. The food was outstanding on our trip. We had a few reservations, but we also found and tried things spur of the moment.

When we arrived in London, I made reservations at a restaurant we could walk to, Daphne’s. It was so delicious, we actually went back after Wimbledon two days later!

We both got sol the first night with zucchini strips on the side, and they could not have been more delicious.

After Wimbledon, we were hungry and the hotel called as soon as we got back to see if we could get in. . . This time, I got rigatoni pasta and some sort of lamb shank for the husband.

The cheesecake was maybe my most favorite dessert I’ve ever had. I will dream about it.

The next day we wandered around Chelsea and found this darling restaurant, Three Darlings.

It was kind of hidden down these stairs…

We had beef tartare, the most delicious salad, and the chef brought out the most beautiful Greek salad for fun…

Day 2 Dinner we went to The River Cafe and I could not have been more excited. I thought we might see Tom and Zendaya or the Beckhams. We got dressed up and were surprised to be seated outside. It was super hot and humid and we were in the sun. Food was great. No photos were taken. The stars were not out.

Day 3 was Wimbledon and we went back to Daphne’s for a late dinner, as referenced. SO GOOD.

Day 4 we stopped for lunch at Padella Soho on Kingly Street. I had a big plate of fettuccine with tomatoes and husband had Cacio e Pepe. No pics!! :(

That night was dinner at Amaya which we had many recommendations for… did not disappoint!

We did the tasting menu of Amaya Favourites and it was amazing.

The last day we had afternoon tea. Husband was a good sport… We HAD to have tea. I couldn’t decide between fancy tea like at Ritz Carlton or Corinthia, but we settled on fun - Sketch was insane.

It’s artsy. There are several rooms including The Gallery, The Glade, and The Parlour - all decorated with a different theme and menu and totally over the top.

Wait until you see the restrooms.. This alone is worth the trip.

The strawberries were of course to celebrate Wimbledon, but I’ve never seen anything like it.

So that was fun.

After Sketch, we walked and walked and we were hungry for dinner after all despite the late snacks. We literally would have gone back to Amaya, but we had heard about several other incredible Indian restaurants and decided to try Vatavaran - right around the corner from our hotel.

We did the tasting menu again!

I can’t get over how many good restaurants there are. Reminded me of planning dinners in I could plan an entire trip to London just around meals.
