PAINTED FLOORS & COMMENTS

I have been exploring the idea of checkered floors recently since I’m helping my daughter, Hillary, with a kitchen remodel. What a wonderful surprise, to find this gorgeousness! When I saw that impossibly long sofa, covered in that to die for fabric, with those perfectly perched pillows all lined up, and those diagonal pink checkered floors? My mouth dropped open.

Turns out, the Hamptons home belongs to Kate Brodsky, and there are lots more photos to see, all featured in the April issue of Architectural Digest. I haven’t been able to get my hands on a copy of the real thing, but luckily the photos are being posted all over the internet. Definitely worth a click. (here) The chartreuse color on the front porch is especially wonderful.

But look at these green floors. And this entire room.

This woman is not afraid of color and I love her for it. She probably has a pretty powerful confidence level in the design department with an icon like Suzanne Rheinstein for a mother!

I tried to paint my laundry room the color of these floors a couple years ago - anyone remember that fiasco? Didn’t work for me, but it is perfection here!

How about a red floor in the bathroom? Also, omg on the walls and that ceiling!

This floor is incredible. My old blog background was this favorite color!

I digress. Back to the checkered floor for Hillary’s kitchen.

Here are a few images of checkered floor inspiration from Pinterest. Love this happy and cheerful yellow!

I tried talking Hillary into doing a color, but her house has sort of a retro vibe, and the black and white is classic, and I’ll have to agree, it’s probably the best option. Plus, she’ll be doing tile, not painting wood floors.

I’ll share photos when her new floors are finished. Here’s a look back at her house. (here) You will see, the house actually came with stunning hardwood floors, and they were painted black in the kitchen. They were gorgeous! But after a dishwasher leak disaster, they were ruined. For now, the project is on hold, as is everything in the world, but definitely something to look forward to.

And now a word on COMMENTS:

You guys. I cannot believe this happened. I was working on this post, and had a little notification pop up that said I had a comment. I had forgotten all about comments. I wondered why people never commented on my posts anymore. I even remembered my mom saying she tried to leave a comment once, but it never showed up. So I clicked this notification, and behold, there was a list of comments. I scrolled and scrolled, all the way back for 8 months to when I started this “new look” and that’s when I realized, when I switched over from blogger, I never learned how to find and read and publish my comments on Squarespace! So, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for all the wonderful comments! I will try to get through most of the questions, although many of them won’t be relevant anymore since so much time has passed. I’m so sorry you were left with no response! I look forward to responding to new comments moving forward, and I hope you know they are always welcome.
