Shells came and went!

The shells arrived from Cape Town and did not last 24 hours. I had 40+ in total, kept a couple dozen and sold all the rest with only two shells remaining in the shop. They are pretty ones - click here to see and shop!

It tickles me to acknowledge how my obsession with pottery has stayed with me for years and is still going strong. These painted ceramics I have fallen in love with are once again from overseas, and I am plagued with shipping fees and breakage!

But so worth it when the boxes arrive!

I grouped the shells into colorful collections for the shop.

Shells arenโ€™t just for the beach! Sure, they are perfect over a mantle in Nantucket, or a condo in Florida, and anywhere in California, but shells can also remind us of a special vacation - a cherished honeymoon or dream trip. They can represent where our family is from. Honestly, they are just a shape, and some of these โ€œshellsโ€ are barely recognizable as such! Put together, they create a shape of their own and I just dont think there is anyone who couldnโ€™t find the perfect place to enjoy them.

Love them as a single!

Or just a fewโ€ฆ

I especially love them in groupings,

I really love the mix of colors here.

The sconces are fantastic and super easy to add to any of the shells with a shape that works.

I had not intended to keep a collection for myself, but at some point, most likely at 3am, it dawned on me that I have the perfect spot for a collection. In our primary bathroom at the condo in Naples, there is a curved wall behind the tub. Although itโ€™s possible to hang a print there, a rectangular shape sits funny on the curved surface. Before we remodeled, we had a set of 3 or 4 smaller prints there and they were never quite right - too rigid and too serious.

Here are some of the shells I have saved for this project. . .

The bathroom is very neutral and I just realized I forgot to post the gorgeous bathroom wallpaper! I must have done so on instagram and forgot about the blog. That will be fun to see when I post about the shells Iโ€™m going to hang next month!

Anyway, I have waited patiently for the right thing to hang for fear of leaving track marks, which I am prone to do when hanging collections or anything, really. For some reason these mistake holes really upset the husband. Luckily, the holes are typically hidden behind whatever was hung and soon forgotten. To be safe, he will not be invited to the hanging of this collection of shells, but I just know he will love the finished look - such a special moment!

This is literally the only photo I can find - from a story on my instagram - of the tub area I speak of. Iโ€™m certain I avoided the area when snapping photos because of itโ€™s unsightliness..

In addition to the blue shells for the tub wall, I also saved a few colorful shells. Iโ€™m not sure if Iโ€™ll mix them in with the blue collection, or create another colorful group somewhere else. Honestly, I could hang these shells all over the condo! One here, a couple there. I just love them, and how perfect!?

So fun that the shells sold overnight. They have all been shipped off to their new homes, and I have re-packed the shells Iโ€™m keeping and shipped to Florida! Canโ€™t wait to get down there and lay them all out!

I think you can safely gather that Iโ€™m obsessed with these shells, and I hope to have the opportunity to sell another wave of shells soon. I just love a feeding frenzy of shell sales!

In other news, I have cleaned out the shop inventory and have tons of new items listed in the sale category. Even some of the painted pumpkins! They are so expensive, so this is a nice time to get one. Iโ€™ve noticed the Halloween section is up at the grocery store, so I guess itโ€™s time to start planning for October!

Here are some of the newer items in the sale sectionโ€ฆ
